I do not own this soundtrack as much as I would like to, but I don't want it nearly as much as I want Symphonic Suite. This is the original soundtrack to Actraiser. The music tracks are presented in the same way as they were in the game, and are not redone or arranged. While some may not like listening to 16-bit music outside of video games, I often find myself doing it and often times I can be found listening to Actraiser music. All the tracks are here in their entirity, which actually isn't very long. Actraiser's musical tracks may be brilliant, but they're also very short. One doesn't really notice how short the songs are before they get looped while playing the game (except in SIM stages), but it becomes fairly evident on this CD. You'll probably find yourself hitting the loop button so you can listen to the songs for a longer time.
Not every track on this CD is a good one. There are quite a few songs in the game that I just never warmed up to. One of those is the boss theme. While it sets a great mood when fighting bosses, it just seems too brash and loud to me when listening to it outside the context of the game. I also never really liked "All Over The World" or "Pyramid~Marahna." If you're a fan of the music in Actraiser (and here's to hoping you are), then you'll love this CD if you find it. Unfortunately, soundtrackcentral.com lists this soundtrack as being virtually "extinct" so the chances of finding it are slim, and if you ever did, I'd probably kill you and steal it away ;D Anyways, you can download the Actraiser SPCs at www.zophar.net for the same quality listening experience on all these tracks.
